Housing Stability

Access to safe and dignified affordable housing is not just a basic human right, it is the foundation upon which fair, inclusive, and thriving communities are built on. Investments into housing go beyond shelter; they are an investment in economic growth, social equity, and the overall resilience of our community. I am a steadfast advocate for policies that will open up opportunities to refurbish old housing stock, produce high-quality affordable housing, provide pathways to home ownership, and stabilize property taxes. I aim to create a community where everyone, regardless of their background, can establish a home and prosper.

Community Economic Development

Supporting small businesses and investing in community development programs is not just about economics; it's about building resilient and close-knit communities. Small businesses are integral to the fabric of our neighborhoods, contributing to our community's unique character and identity. I believe in harnessing the power of local initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders, and implementing policies that empower our entrepreneurs to build and sustain their future. Furthermore, it is vital to invest in organizations and businesses that support youth development. As the daughter of Hmong refugees, I am grateful for the youth programs which bolstered my confidence and propelled me to become the first in my family of eight to graduate from college. By supporting our small businesses and expanding community development programs, we can ensure our neighborhoods flourish with opportunities reaching every corner of our vibrant and diverse community.

Jobs & Career Development

To ensure we have a thriving workforce, it is crucial the County provides robust and accessible job training programs so everyone has the opportunity to thrive in the rapidly evolving job market. I am dedicated to advancing policies that prioritize not only job creation, but also bridge inequality gaps, promote upward mobility, and dismantle systemic barriers to employment. Great workers not only deserve great jobs but they also deserve great benefits. I am committed to fostering a healthy workforce with family-sustaining wages that promote a realistic work-life balance by supporting workers' rights, paid time off, mental health programs, and the expansion of childcare programs.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure is not merely a means of getting from point A to point B; it's a lifeline for communities. Expanding our infrastructure and effectively integrating multiple modes of transportation is key to stimulating economic growth and promoting social equity by connecting people to opportunities. New commuter routes will help our region become a more attractive place to live in by reducing traffic congestion, reducing our carbon footprints, increasing accessibility, and growing our businesses. By championing policies that expand and improve our infrastructure, I aim to build a community that is not only environmentally responsible, but also economically vibrant, and inclusive for everyone. As a County Commissioner, I will prioritize being transparent and co-governing with my neighbors to ensure everyone’s input is heard.

Expanding and Improving County Services

Our community should feel assured knowing they can easily navigate and access the resources they need. It is important to me that community input be the driving force behind the development of our community’s services. I will work closely with residents to ensure streamline access to crucial resources. Through this collective effort, we can effectively address the unique experiences and concerns of our residents. This includes crafting accessible mental health services, accessible and quality childcare services that contribute to the overall well-being of families and just justice transformation programs that prioritize rehabilitation and support over punitive measures.

Climate Justice

We must be taking proactive measures to reduce our carbon footprint on Earth, recognizing that the impacts of climate change are felt universally, with a disproportionately heavier burden on low-income communities. I am committed to further investing in innovative energy and environment initiatives that will steer us towards waste reduction and the establishment of more sustainable communities. To achieve this goal, it is crucial that programs incorporate an educational component enabling residents to acquire knowledge about the most efficient practices. These programs should be designed to be accessible to everyone, fostering widespread participation and contribution to a healthier environment. As County Commissioner, I’m excited to hit the ground running to expand our previously built up recycling program and food scraps program.
